Carlton, Leicestershire: a rural parish near Market Bosworth

Carlton is a small rural parish in Leicestershire, east of the River Sence and about 2.2 miles north of Market Bosworth. It has long been an agricultural settlement, and its historic focus remains St Andrew's Church, where there has been a church since at least the early 13th century. The present building largely dates from the 18th century after an earlier church was destroyed by fire, with later 19th-century Gothic alterations.
