Branston, Staffordshire: a growing village on the edge of Burton upon Trent

Branston is a large village in East Staffordshire, just south of Burton upon Trent and close to the River Trent. Historically known as Branstone, it developed from a small riverside settlement and expanded strongly during the 19th and 20th centuries along the Burton to Lichfield road, now followed by the A38 corridor. Its position near Burton has made it both a residential village and part of the wider brewing and industrial landscape of the Trent valley.
Population: about 5,910 inhabitants (2021 census).
Distance: around 3 miles south of Burton upon Trent.
