Espoo across the forest, garden city and archipelago

Three films offer distinct introductions to Nuuksio, Tapiola and Espoo’s island museum landscape.

This film introduces Nuuksio National Park through a route at the forest edge of Espoo. It is useful as a first visual impression of the landscape that sits within the Helsinki metropolitan region, but the title and video alone cannot tell a visitor which paths, facilities or connections are open today. The City of Espoo and HSL publish current trail and access information. Check them before setting out, especially if you plan a longer walk or rely on public transport.

The Tapiola walk gives Espoo an urban counterpoint to the forest. Recorded in January 2023, it takes viewers through the garden-city district and provides a street-level impression of its public spaces and built environment. The video is a personal walk rather than a formal architecture tour, so use it to orient yourself and then explore at your own pace. Tapiola is an evolving centre; construction, shops and access routes can change, and current visitor information should be checked before a planned stop.

Made by KAMU Espoo City Museum, this film presents the Pentala Archipelago Museum as a summer day trip where a sea crossing, island history and nature belong to one visit. It complements the Nuuksio and Tapiola videos by showing the maritime side of Espoo. The museum and public boats operate seasonally, so the film is best used for inspiration rather than as a current timetable. Confirm the museum season and boat departures with the City of Espoo before travelling.
