Folgensbourg: an Alsatian village near the Swiss border

Folgensbourg is a commune in Haut-Rhin, in the Grand Est region of France, very close to the Swiss border and the Basel urban area. The village is first documented in 1190, when it belonged to the ecclesiastical sphere of Basel, and its parish history remained connected for centuries with the church institutions of the region. Today Folgensbourg is part of the cross-border area of Saint-Louis and Basel while still preserving its distinct village character.
