Espenel in three films: wartime memory, hilltop landscape and river camping
Three distinct films connect a resident’s 1944 testimony, a Cœur de Drôme visitor project and a riverside campsite in Espenel.
This long-form testimony is the most personal film in the selection. Espenel’s community-history page links it as the account of Huguette Bautin, who was ten when German troops entered the village in July 1944. The public video title is “Une enfant dans les flammes”; the upload is dated 2021, decades after the events, so it should be understood as a resident’s remembered experience rather than contemporaneous footage. It adds a human voice to the documented account of destruction and reconstruction, while the municipal planning report remains the source for the chronology. The video is a historical testimony, not a visitor guide.
