Carlat in three videos: the basalt rock, its lost fortress and a village view

Three distinct views of Carlat’s landmark: a historical TV report, aerial footage and a short personal film.

France 3’s short 2019 report introduces a way to revisit the fortress that once stood on Carlat’s basalt rock: a virtual-reality reconstruction. It is a useful historical orientation because the stronghold was demolished in 1603–04 and only scant traces remain. The report explains an interpretation of the lost place; it does not mean a castle survives intact. Check Aurillac Agglo’s current access notice before planning an ascent, since the official site reported a summer 2026 closure for safety works and does not confirm a later reopening.

Another view of Carlat

This brief aerial clip is specifically titled for the Rocher de Carlat and comes from a channel devoted to drone footage. It offers a different, visual point of entry to the basalt landmark than the narrated history in the first film. The public description provides a geolocation link, not a walking route, opening information or a historical account, so treat the clip as visual orientation rather than practical guidance. The rock's visitor status can change; check the official notice before setting out.

Another view of Carlat

A 2013 personal upload titled “Le Rocher de CARLAT” adds a third, older view devoted to the same landmark. Its page has no descriptive text, so this review stays with what can be verified from the title, channel and public metadata; it does not attribute historical details or visitor access to the film. Together, the three clips offer distinct formats—TV interpretation, aerial footage and a personal site-focused recording. Current opening and safety conditions should always come from the local authority.
