Trollhättan in three films: the falls, old locks and a changing waterway

Three checked films introduce the seasonal fall release, a walk among Trollhättan’s locks and the current project planning new locks on the canal.

The municipal community channel Thn Samhällsbyggnad published this 75-second clip, titled “Påsläpp fallen,” on 9 July 2018. It is a short, locally made introduction to Trollhättan’s fall release, not an up-to-date event notice: the city says releases take place at set summer times, which must be checked for the year and day of a visit. The date here is the verified YouTube upload date, not a claimed filming date.

Bengt Sveider’s 2-minute-36-second “Vandring runt slussarna vid Trollhättan,” published 20 May 2014, is specifically described as a walk around the Trollhättan locks. It offers a second, ground-level point of entry to the canal landscape after the falls. Because the lock area is under evolving planning and access arrangements, treat this older film as orientation rather than a current route or access guarantee.

In this 3-minute-41-second Swedish explainer, published 11 September 2023, Trafikverket’s description says four staff from the lock project explain why they recommend the northern alternative for the new Trollhätte canal locks. It is a planning film, not a visitor tour and not proof that every schedule or proposal remains unchanged. Pair it with the municipality’s latest project and traffic notices before exploring affected paths.
