Biot on film: village makers, bubble glass and Fernand Léger’s museum

Three reports introduce the hillside village, its glassmaking craft and a behind-the-scenes look at the Fernand Léger museum.

France 3’s regional report introduces Biot as a hillside village close to the Mediterranean, with artists and glassmakers among its defining features. It offers a broad destination portrait and a sense of the landscape around the old centre; the short feature cannot represent every part of a municipality that also includes technology-sector workplaces. It is a useful visual starting point, not a full visitor itinerary.

Midi en France visits the Verrerie de Biot and explains the bubble-filled glass associated with the town through the work of a master glassmaker. The focus on a craft process makes this a strong companion to a walk among workshops: viewers can connect finished objects with the heat, tools and skill involved in making them. The report is from 2016, so current demonstrations and workshop access need checking.

France 3’s “En Coulisses” series looks behind the public rooms of the Musée national Fernand Léger in Biot, including the work that takes place before the doors open. That perspective adds context to the museum as an institution, while the town’s own museum page is the place to confirm current exhibitions and visitor arrangements. The film is not a substitute for seeing the collection in person.
