Peyreleau in three videos: a village walk, local memory and the Tarn route

Three distinct films offer a street-level view of Peyreleau, an Occitan oral-history account and a broader look at the GR 736 Tarn landscape.

This 4K walking film follows Peyreleau at street level and gives viewers time to notice the village’s steep lanes, stone houses and relationship to the surrounding greenery. Its title calls the place Romanesque, but the film is a visual walk rather than a heritage study; that label should not be treated as evidence for the age of the village or its buildings. Use it to get a feel for the compact historic centre before planning a visit.

This archive excerpt preserves an Occitan oral-history interview collected in 2000. Etienne Cartayrade recounts stories about Jean Grin, a former priest remembered in the Causse Noir and Peyreleau area. The most sensational claims are explicitly qualified by the witness: he says the alleged child killings were not seen and may not be true. The recording is valuable for language and local memory, not proof that every detail happened as told.

The regional park’s GR 736 teaser widens the view from the village to the Tarn valley route and its surrounding landscapes. It is not a dedicated tour of Peyreleau, so treat it as context for a longer itinerary rather than a guide to streets or opening hours. The connection is geographic: the village sits at the Jonte–Tarn meeting point and can form part of a wider exploration of the gorges.
