Óbidos begins at the gate rather than at a single monument. The long main walk follows the enclosed streets, where white walls, painted edges and small public spaces gradually reveal the shape of the hilltop town. Notice how the lanes bend instead of offering a straight view from one end to the other. That slow movement is part of the appeal: the castle and the walls make more sense when you see the town they enclose.
The rampart film supplies the elevated view missing from street level. From the walls, rooftops and the surrounding landscape become part of the same scene.
