Kouvola in three views: city life, Verla and Repovesi

An official portrait of Kouvola, a film about Verla's mill heritage and a dated hiking video from Repovesi. Each offers a different way to understand the region; check current openings and trail notices before travelling.

Kouvola’s own city-brand film is designed as an introduction residents can use to show what kind of place they call home. Its broad perspective pairs naturally with this guide’s central point: the name Kouvola describes more than the station centre, reaching into river valleys, forest districts and former factory communities. Treat the film as an invitation and a quick sense of civic identity; for a visit, use the official attraction and transport pages to check what is actually open and how to reach it.

Verlan Mökit’s short film is embedded by the Verla heritage site itself, and its title places the old mill village within Kouvola. The subject offers a useful counterpoint to the city-centre portrait: a small community whose daily rhythm once followed groundwood and board production. The preserved mill and its machinery are best understood on the museum’s guided visit, so this video works as a preview rather than a replacement for the tour. Opening dates and food services are seasonal; consult Verla before setting out.

Walk With Rasmus filmed a Repovesi outing in May 2025, beginning with the plan to walk the Ketunlenkki circuit and then adapting when the Lapinsalmi bridge was closed. The description says the hiker instead headed toward Määkijä and used the cable ferry, making the film a practical snapshot of how a route change can reshape a day outdoors. It is also explicitly a record of conditions at the time of filming. Metsähallitus has since announced further bridge work in 2026, so do not use this older footage as current access information.
