Harjavalta in three videos: city life, wartime memories and river sport

An official city portrait, an oral-history film made with local veterans and a waterskiing-park video present three distinct sides of Harjavalta.

Harjavallan Kaupunki's 2021 portrait presents Harjavalta through its own civic voice: an industrial city with local culture, public sculpture, the Kokemäenjoki and recreation. It is useful as an introduction to the town's self-image and helps connect industrial history with everyday urban life. The film is promotional and several descriptions of services or future development reflect the time it was made; they should not be treated as current operational information. Pair it with the municipality's present visitor pages when planning a trip.

This museum-produced film preserves memories of wartime through interviews with eight Harjavalta veterans, according to the city's account of the project. It grew from cooperation between the local veterans' association, the Emil Cedercreutz Museum and the city. Rather than supplying a broad military chronology, the recording offers individual testimony and local memory, making it a meaningful cultural-history resource. It represents the people interviewed and their recollections; viewers should distinguish personal testimony from a complete account of Finland's wartime experience.

Published by Harjavallan Vesihiihtäjät in 2022, this video introduces the Watersportspark on the Kokemäenjoki and gives a glimpse of the river as a setting for active recreation. A municipal event notice from 2023 also confirms waterskiing activity at the park, so the location is more than scenery in a film. Both sources are several years old, however. The video does not establish today's opening dates, public access or available services; check with the local club or current municipal information before making plans.
