Ähtäri in three films: the zoo, boatmaking and Pirkanpohja art

Three distinct films connect Ähtäri’s animal park, boatmaking industry and Pirkanpohja Art Centre, with dates that help place each view in context.

Ähtäri Zoo’s 2021 film is centred on the zoo farm and is useful as an earlier portrait of the animal park’s visitor offer. Its date matters: it predates the former operator’s October 2025 bankruptcy and the park’s 2026 reopening under a new operator. Treat it as historical context about the destination, not a current timetable or promise that every service shown or named remains unchanged.

The City of Ähtäri’s “Made in Ähtäri: Buster Boats” turns from tourism to manufacturing. It connects the municipality’s boat-building identity with a local industrial story and makes a useful counterpoint to the lake scenery that attracts visitors. Published in 2022, the film documents that moment; check with current operators before assuming that production, tours or access to industrial premises are unchanged.

Mane Säli’s film is specifically titled “Pirkanpohjan Taidekeskus, Ähtäri,” directing attention to the town’s art centre rather than its better-known animal attraction. It offers a separate cultural entry point for visitors interested in exhibitions and local arts. The upload dates from 2014, so use the city’s current exhibition programme for opening dates, current displays and visitor arrangements.
