Nancy: A Historic and Cultural City
Nancy is the prefecture of Meurthe-et-Moselle and the seat of the Greater Nancy metropolis. Located on the Meurthe, 47 kilometers south of Metz and 281 kilometers east of Paris as the crow flies, it was the former capital of the Duchy of Lorraine.

Nancy was capital of the Duchy of Lorraine until 1766, then capital of the department of Meurthe from 1790 and of Meurthe-et-Moselle since 1871. It has also been a spa town since the beginning of the 20th century.
