Cudham: an old Kent village on London's rural edge

Cudham is a historic village in the London Borough of Bromley, on the border with Kent, south of Orpington and north-west of Sevenoaks. Although it now forms part of Greater London, it long belonged to Kent and preserves a distinctly rural character. Its church of St Peter and St Paul is recorded in Domesday Book, and other evidence suggests Christian worship on the site from Saxon times.
Distance: about 6 miles south of Orpington and roughly 16 miles south-east of Charing Cross.
Traditions and culture: the village hosts one of the area's oldest village shows and fetes, dating back to Victorian times.
Highlights: the Grade II* listed Church of St Peter and St Paul, the Blacksmith's Arms, the recreation ground, and the surrounding rural landscape on the edge of Kent and London.
