Eversholt: an old Bedfordshire village of estate and parish life

Eversholt is a village and civil parish in Bedfordshire, recorded in the Domesday Book and generally understood to be more than a thousand years old. Its name is thought to derive from Old English meaning “wood of the wild boar.” For many years much of the land belonged to the Dukes of Bedford, and estate life shaped the local economy and settlement pattern.
