Aspropyrgos: the industrial gateway of western Attica

Aspropyrgos is a municipality in the West Attica regional unit of Greece, in the Thriasio Plain, within the wider Athens metropolitan area. Its name means “white tower,” and the modern municipality developed from a local community established in 1912, later recognized as a municipality in 1949. Today it is one of the most important industrial and logistics areas in Greece, with refineries, storage facilities and transport infrastructure that connect western Attica with Athens and the Saronic Gulf.
Population: 31,381 inhabitants (2021 census).
Distance: about 15 km northwest of central Athens and 5 km northeast of Elefsina.
