Alpbach: Tyrolean settlement and mountain landscape
Alpbach lies in a side valley of the Inn Valley in Tyrol. A uniform townscape with wooden buildings, cultivated farms and steep meadows emerged from regional building traditions and later design regulations. The place is a residential, agricultural and tourist community at the same time.
History and Identity
Farms and scattered settlements developed along the valley. Copper mining in the Gratlspitz area played a role for a long time and is explained in the mountain farming museum and on paths. The European Forum Alpbach has been bringing international conferences to the town since 1945.
Sights
The parish church, cemetery and village center form the core. The Congress Center shows modern architecture on the hillside. Hiking trails lead to farms, viewpoints and mining trails, while mountain railways provide seasonal access. Agricultural areas remain working areas.
